10 Actors We'd Love to See on 'Yellowstone'

Yellowstone season 5 is coming up in November, and we're excited to see some of the new faces joining our favorite characters as we dive back into all of the drama with the Dutton family. With a cast full of incredible actors ranging from Oscar nominees to the phenomenal Kelly Reilly, it takes a certain level of talent to be able to blend into the amazingly dramatic world dreamed up by creator Taylor Sheridan. While we obviously trust Sheridan to bring in the best of the best, we have a few names on our wishlist that we think would be amazing additions to the greater Yellowstone universe, from the main series to its various spinoffs and prequels.

As soon as I saw Chris Pratt commented with excitement on Yellowstone's season 5 trailer post on Instagram, I knew he'd be on my wishlist of actors to see on the series. Ever since he was the funny guy on Parks and Rec, Pratt has proven that he really can do everything. He's become a Marvel superhero, is starring in the new Jurassic Park franchise, and even has a new Amazon series where he plays a Navy SEAL. Combine all that with the fact that he also starred in the remake of The Magnificent Seven a few years ago, and you've got a seriously talented actor who could do just about anything for this series. Plus, he's kind of the king of being able to merge drama and humor easily.

Kurt Russell

One of the most popular western movie stars of all time, alongside Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell would be an amazing addition to the world of Yellowstone. He's such a big star I feel like he'd need his own prequel series vs. starring alongside Kevin, which honestly would be incredibly entertaining. Next up, we have the Dutton family in the '30s, so maybe Kurt could lead the next prequel in the '60s or '70s? Maybe he could even play John Dutton's dad? All of his experience on western sets would make him right at home on the Yellowstone Ranch based on his performances in classics like Tombstone.

Kyle Chandler

Kyle Chandler...need I say more? He already played a beloved football coach on the classic Texas series Friday Night Lights, and he appeared in Taylor Sheridan's series Mayor of Kingstown. He feels like a natural fit in the world of Yellowstone, potentially on the upcoming Texas spinoff set at the Four Sixes. He'd be amazing as the John Dutton of Texas or even a rival ranch owner up in Montana.

Connie Britton

Speaking of Friday Night Lights, Chandler's former co-star Connie Britton would also be an amazing addition. Based on FNL and Nashville, we know that Britton works great with a western aesthetic. She has amazing style (and hair) that rivals Beth Dutton's, and honestly, there's so much you could do with her. She could be a new political ally for the Duttons now that we know John becomes governor in season five, or she could even be a new family member like maybe Evelyn's sister coming to see the family? I personally think exploring Evelyn's side of the family would be really interesting especially since we're bringing back flashbacks in the upcoming season with Josh Lucas.

Timothy Olyphant

As a prominent western TV star, it would only make sense to get Timothy Olyphant on Yellowstone. He was incredible as Seth Bullock in Deadwood and as Raylan Givens in his popular modern western Justified, which makes me think he'd be perfect as a lawman on the series. There's so much going on up in Montana, we know that the Sheriff's Office as well as the Livestock Commissioner could always use some help.

Kirsten Dunst

Easily one of the best actresses of her time, Kirsten Dunst has been acting since she was just a child when she blew everyone away in Interview With a Vampire. She's been in everything from dramatic indie films to teen romances, but it wasn't until 2021's Power of the Dog that she showed the world she has what it takes to star in a western period piece. Taylor Sheridan has a thing for landing some of the best talent Hollywood has to offer, and Dunst feels like a no-brainer for a female lead. Whether it's a new spinoff or prequel series, she would definitely bring something special to the Yellowstone universe.

Kodi Smit-McPhee

Another Power of the Dog star, Kodi Smit-McPhee, has proven a couple of times that he's a strong western actor. He also starred opposite Michael Fassbender in the 2015 film Slow West. The Australian actor is incredibly interesting to watch, and I feel like he could be an unexpected addition to the world surrounding the Dutton family.

Ed Harris

Another iconic western star, how perfect would Ed Harris be as a Yellowstone addition? While it's easy to see him as a fun new villain thanks to his role as the Man in Black on Westworld, he could just as easily take on playing a friend or ally to John Dutton. He would also be an amazing fresh face on any of the upcoming prequel series or spinoffs...it doesn't really matter. Ed is honestly good in everything.

Sharon Stone

Taylor Sheridan snagged Sylvester Stalone to star in one of his new series, so why not a movie star like Sharon Stone? She has actually starred in a western in the past and is always interesting to watch. Whether playing an age-appropriate love interest for John Dutton or a new rival for Beth, Stone would be a really cool addition to the series...specifically Yellowstone, though she'd obviously be great in any of the spinoffs. I'd just love to see her go head to head with Beth in some capacity.

Lena Headey

Speaking of going head to head with Beth, British actress Lena Headey would be incredible as a new villain. She was the ultimate level of evil as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, and though Beth is definitely a force to be reckoned with, Headey could prove to be a worthy opponent like she's never seen before.
