Kid Rock Tells Confederate Flag Protesters to 'Kiss My Ass’

Outspoken musician Kid Rock had a blunt message to those who have criticized his use of the Confederate flag during concerts.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the singer sent a message to Fox News host Megyn Kelly, which was edited for language before she read it on the air.

"Please tell the people who are protesting to kiss my ... ask me some questions," the statement said. The aggressive comments were a response to the National Action Network, a non-profit civil rights organization, for requesting the artist to stop using the flag in his live performances.

Sam Riddle, the organization's political director, says he can't believe Rock chooses to display the flag, especially in places like Detroit, which also happens to be where the artist is from.

"How in the hell can Kid Rock represent Detroit and wave that flag just generating millions and millions in ticket sales — a flag that represents genocide to most of Detroit?"

Though, many fans have since pointed out that the Michigan-born singer doesn't even use the flag's image during his live performances. Even so, MLive reports that the National Action Network is pushing for the Kid Rock exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum to be taken down if he does not comply with its requests. The singer has not made any further comments about the organization's complaints.

The push to remove the image of the Confederate flag from the public eye was spawned from a tragic, hate-driven shooting in a Charleston church in June of 2015. The movement's impact has been felt across both the political and entertainment world. John Rich of Big and Rich recently voiced his support for the flag to be removed from public buildings.
