Dunkin Donuts' New Frosted Sugar Cookie Donut Sounds Heavenly

It seems like just yesterday Dunkin' Donuts had let loose its creepy, kooky Halloween donuts, but already the brand's 2017 Holiday Donut menu is set to arrive November 20 in stores nationwide. This holiday lineup just looks like they should be eaten in front of fire. Maybe even with your favorite coffee.

This year's news doughnuts include the Frosted Sugar Cookie Donut and the Gingerbread Cookie Donut, as well as the Snowflake Sprinkle Donut and Munchkin Donut Holes along with seasonal favorite beverages Peppermint Mocha and Brown Sugar Cinnamon iced coffee flavors.

The Dunkin' Donuts' Frosted Sugar Cookie Donut features a frosted donut with cookie-dough filling, topped with crumbled sugar cookies. Dunkin's Gingerbread Donut is topped with caramel frosting and sprinkled with crumbled gingerbread cookie topping.

As always, the returning Snowflake Sprinkle Donut is a frosted donut with holiday-red icing and seasonal snowflake sprinkles — also available bite-size as Munchkin donut holes!

To wash down these delectable donuts, Dunkin' Donuts recommends pairing the Frosted Sugar Cookie Donut with its Peppermint Mocha Coffee — "this classic combination of mint and chocolate really rounds out the sweetness of the donut while enhancing the frosted cookie notes," the company said in a release.

The Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte is said to pair perfectly with the Gingerbread Donut; according to the company, "the creamy latte brings out the caramel notes in the donut, while the brown sugar perfectly pairs with the gingerbread."

Also making their way back to Dunkin' Donuts stores this holiday season are its holiday coffee cups, adorned with festive reds and green seasonal staples — peppermints, holiday trees, snowflakes and holly leaves — along with one a simple, one-word slogan: "Joy."

Each year, Dunkin' Donuts cooks up its holiday flavors in its test kitchens. According to the company, this year's round what inspired by — what else? — classic Christmas cookies.

"Whether it's baking cookies with family or a holiday cookie swap with friends, they are a quintessential part of the season. This year, our favorite holiday cookies inspired our holiday donuts," the company said.

If anyone was looking for a new dream job, by the way, Dunkin' Donuts may have it:

"To craft our new Gingerbread and Frosted Sugar Cookie Donuts, chefs and food scientists here in the Dunkin' Test Kitchen got together and baked all kinds of cookies. We tried each with our donuts, and then worked for months and months developing just the right flavor profiles, fillings and toppings for our donuts."

Take me to the cookie and donut test kitchen, please.
