A creation by Delish, this wine-cake hybrid is simply sinful. Fluffy chocolate cake is oozing with a red wine sauce and topped with a rich red wine chocolate ganache. If that weren't enough, it's dusted with chocolate shavings. At this point, I say skip the dinner and go right to dessert. I mean, just look at this thing. How can you pass this up?

To make this irresistible cake, you will need to start with coating a cake pan in vegetable oil cooking spray and cocoa powder. Pour in your favorite chocolate cake batter - this recipe uses boxed cake - and bake for about 25 minutes. While that's going grab a small saucepan and dissolve sugar in red wine and water over medium heat. Add a dollop of Cool Whip and give it a good stir.
Now, back to the cake. In true poke cake fashion, you'll need to poke holes into the baked cake. Then, drown it in that rich red wine sauce and store it in the fridge while you turn your attention to the ganache.
Simple to make, start by placing a mound of chocolate chips into a large bowl. In a saucepan, simmer cream, red wine, and sugar over medium heat until it dissolves. Add it to the room temperature chocolate chips and mix it all up. Lather that on the cake, add some chocolate shavings, and pop it in the fridge until the ganache has set.
Want to make it even more extravagant? Top it off with some homemade whipped cream, fresh raspberries, and a few chocolate covered strawberries. Do that and there is no doubt that your date will be impressed. Just don't tell that special someone the cake mix came from a box. That will be our little secret.
