Aldi's is focusing on bringing new fresh, organic, and easy-to-prepare options into their American grocery stores. According to a press release, 20 percent of products in every Aldi's market will be new compared to last year.
"The continued success of our store expansion and remodel initiatives has given us the opportunity to carefully select and introduce new products that satisfy our customers' increasing preferences for fresh items, including organic meats, salad bowls, sliced fruits and gourmet cheeses," said Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi U.S. "We know people lead busy lives, so we're making it even easier for them to purchase everything on their shopping list at Aldi, while still saving money."
Aldi's market locations will increase their fresh food selection by 40 percent with new store brand items including ready-to-cook and organic meat, a larger fresh produce selection, and an expanded Earth Grown line with more vegan and vegetarian options. The supermarket chain also plans to add more baked goods.
In addition to making grocery shopping easier, the no-frills store plans to make meals easier by offering more grab-and-go convenience items, including drinks, single-serve guacamole and organic hummus, fresh fruit and vegetable snack packs, and easy-to-prepare meal starters.
The discount grocery store chain, which was founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht, now has over 1,800 stores in 35 states in the U.S. with an expansion plan investing more than $5 billion to remodel and expand its store count to 2,500 locations by the end of 2022. Aldi stores offer a streamlined shopping experience built around uncluttered stores, Aldi exclusive brands, and low prices.
Two things you may not know about the Aldi's market chain: You can get delivery via Instacart in the Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles areas, and in 1971 (after the Albrecht brothers split the chain), Theo bought Trader Joe's.
