How to Make Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Start by making the icing- pour Mountain Dew into a small saucepan, and add in sugar and lemon juice. Stir on medium heat until sugar fully dissolves.
Let mixture reduce to 1 cup and allow it to cool, then let sit for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
To make the flavored butter, melt butter and mix in lemon and lime zest, sugar, cardamom and nutmeg. Set aside.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and divide into 8 equally sized pieces. Brush each with the flavored butter.
Slice the apples and lay one or two apple wedges on the wide end of each crescent roll.
Spray a large baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Beginning at the wide end, roll each crescent roll up and place into the prepared baking dish.
Pour the remaining flavored butter over the crescent rolls, followed with the icing mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees f for 20 minutes or until rolls are golden brown and slightly crispy!

- 1 tsp lime zest
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 stick melted butter
Crescent Rolls
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
- 2 apples sliced
Icing
- 1 12 oz can Mountain Dew
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
