To celebrate thirty years of curses, spellbooks, and talking cats, the iconic Halloween flick will return to the big screen for a limited theatrical run, starting on October 6.
The 1993 Disney Halloween film stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as Winfred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson, three ancient witches inadvertently awakened from their centuries-long slumber by skeptical teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz). With the help of his younger sister Dani (Thora Birch) and his crush Allison (Vinessa Shaw), Max must outwit the hilariously wicked witches, who are determined to regain their youth by sucking the life force from Salem's children. Guided by a talking cat named Binx, the trio embarks on a thrilling adventure filled with humor, magic, and mischief, all while trying to prevent the witches from casting their ultimate spell before sunrise.
For those who would prefer to avoid the crowds running amok (amok amok amok amok), you can also stream the film from home. Hocus Pocus, Hocus Pocus 2, and the feature-length special Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash are all available for streaming on Disney+.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, D23, Disney's official fan club, has organized a Black Flame Ball set for October 7th. This highly sought-after event, which has already sold out, will be held in Salem and promises attendees a captivating experience. The festivities will commence with a guided walking tour, exploring both historical and filming locations, followed by an enchanting themed evening bash, as detailed on D23's official website.
Midler, 77, Parker, 58, and Najimy, 66, all returned for Hocus Pocus 2, which picks up several years after the events of the original film, with Salem now embracing its infamous witchy history as a tourist attraction. When Max and Dani Dennison, now adults, return to Salem with Max's teenage daughter, Emily, they unwittingly resurrect the Sanderson sisters once more, thanks to a mysterious relic discovered in Max's attic. Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson are back and determined to regain their full powers by capturing the souls of Salem's children. With the help of old and new friends, including Allison and a revived Binx, the group must thwart the witches' sinister plan and save Salem once again.
