On Halloween morning, the Today cast dressed as an array of recording artists as part of a Kelly-oke theme in honor of fellow NBC fixture Kelly Clarkson. In addition to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager's lip-synching act as Cher and Sonny Bono, Laura Jarrett and Peter Alexander copied Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's look from the "Happy Anywhere" music video.

Jarrett captured the glam (a blonde wig and fishnets) and country (a trucker cap and an olive drab green short skirt) elements of Stefani's on-the-ranch look. Alexander's wearing jeans and a flannel shirt, just like Shelton does in the music video, while toting an acoustic guitar. He's even sporting a right arm tattoo identical to Shelton's. The co-anchors captured the pop-country power couple's vibes again while miming along to a fitting selection: "Happy Anywhere."
Shelton applauded the pair's spot-on tribute.
"Hey there, Peter and Laura. That's pretty damn good, I gotta admit it. I mean, you're no Hoda [Kotb] playing Blake Shelton, but still pretty dang good. You guys did great. Sounded great, looked great. Happy Halloween," he said in a video message.
Today costume designer Staci Greenbaum worked with a team to piece together each costume, and there were "shifts, shuffles and changes" to each outfit leading up to showtime.
"I have six or eight different costume-builders overall, building custom stuff for everyone," Greenbaum told Today. "It's not like you can go into a store and find this stuff."
Shelton and Stefani's friend Carson Daly got in the holiday spirit, as well, dressing as Neil Diamond to lip-sync "Sweet Caroline." It was a funny bit, but it was no Craig Melvin as MC Hammer, as seen in the "U Can't Touch This" music video.
