To teach their two oldest children about giving back, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen brought 7-year-old Luna Simone and 5-year-old Miles Theodore along to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) location in Los Angeles on Sunday (Nov. 11) to cook breakfast for the families staying there.

The charity's Los Angeles location opened in 1980 to house families of children receiving nearby healthcare. Per its website, the house has helped 35,700 families from 49 different countries.
"We spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon with families," Legend said (as quoted by People). "These families come from all over, and their kids are being treated at Children's Hospital and it's really difficult for families to deal with that. We were happy to come and cook for them and spend some time."
Luna Simone and Miles Theodore took the opportunity to interact with other children and brighten their days.
"This was our kids' first time at the Ronald McDonald House. We made our mochi pancakes, one of Chrissy's recipes," Legend added "And a lot of the kids that were there, some were patients, some were siblings of patients but our kids bonded with all of them quickly. They were playing basketball with them, having a good time. I enjoyed watching them."
The experience was among the lessons Legend and Teigen have taught their children about being charitable.
"We try to teach them that it's important to give back and to help other people," Legend said. "They've gone with us to help feed people who are hungry, they've gone to homeless shelters with us. We try to teach them to be appreciative of what they have and also know that there are a lot of people that don't have the privileges that they do, so we should do what we can to help them."
The RMHC mission connects deeply with Legend and Teigen, who are also the parents of 9-month-old Esti Maxine and 4-month-old Wren Alexander.
"The families are going through so much and having health problems with your baby is what no one wants to have," Legend added. "We know from losing a pregnancy to just having friends of ours who have kids with health problems, it is just such a difficult experience and any help that you can get, any support is so valuable."
