Colorado carpenter Greg Zanis is taking 60 handmade crosses from Colorado to Las Vegas to honor victims slain in the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting.
This kind gesture is, sadly, something the Aurora, Ill. resident has done before. He previously built crosses for the victims of Aurora Theatre shooting, the Sandy Hook shooting and the Pulse Nightclub shooting last year. According to the Chicago Tribune, Zanis has created over 20,000 crosses since he began the project 20 years ago.
"When you see these lined up for 250 feet, it's going to show the severity of what happened over there," he says in the video above.
Each cross will have victim's name, age and a photo. It's a labor of love for Zanis, who lost his own father to gun violence.
He plans to be in Las Vegas by Sunday morning (Oct. 8). He'll be accompanied by a pastor who will do a prayer vigil with him in honor of the victims.
