A seasoned outdoorsman in Texas found himself in an unexpected predicament when a 5-foot snake slithered his way up the pipes and into his home's toilet.

According to the Star-Telegram, Ben Tedrick was cleaning one of the homes on his rural Brazos County property when he noticed something strange. A rat snake had gotten stuck in the home's plumbing, causing it to stick its head out of the toilet water.

After some quick country thinking, Tedrick used a mop handle and some string to create a tool to pull the snake from the toilet bowl. But the snake wasn't leaving the bathroom without a fight.

"I had him out about three feet when he coiled up again and he pulled me forward," Tedrick told the Bryan-College Station Eagle. "I was afraid his head was going to pop off, but he was perfectly okay."

In the end, Tedrick managed to pull the snake out without any injuries. Although rat snakes are non-venomous and are commonly found around Texas, this surprise encounter is one Todrick surely won't forget.
