Yes, that was a Tom T. Hall original, as interpreted by Jon Pardi, played during Michelob Ultra's Super Bowl ad. "Paid extra" Chris Pratt and several athletes sing along to a new recording of Hall's 1975 top five hit "I Love Beer" in a commercial that promotes the adult beverage as a healthy alternative to other gas station six-pack options.

Pratt, teased in a prior ad as a would-be brand spokesperson, appears along with several recognizable athletes. His singing partners include US Open champion Brooks Koepa, surfer Kelly Slater and 2017 NYC Marathon winner Shalane Flanagan.

The various stars of the commercial sing along to a different artist than Hall. Jon Pardi covered the song for the ad, with his version expected to see the light of day soon.

Hall's music fit a beer commercial like a cowboy boot-shaped can coozie before. His "I Love" appeared in a 2002 Coors Light ad.

A 2008 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, Hall became one of the best and most versatile songwriters in the 1960's and 1970's. His other hits include "County Is," "The Year Clayton Delaney Died" and numerous others. Several Hall compositions, namely "Harper Valley P.T.A." and "Itty Bitty," became huge when covered by a different artist. Time will tell if Pardi and Michelob Ultra bring due attention to the works of one of Nashville's greatest living songwriters.
