Ashley Monroe's airy and buttery vocals create a bittersweet dessert of a song called "Paying Attention." While the lyrics reflect the mournful sadness of a love lost, the sweeping arrangement of strings will have listeners swaying along to the cinematic, classic Countrypolitan sound.
The song was initially inspired by the loss of Monroe's dog Rosie and transformed into a tune about the universal feeling of regret.
Monroe recorded the track in the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville while she was pregnant with her son. "Paying Attention" and her seductive single "Hands On You" will both be featured on Monroe's upcoming album Sparrow, produced by superstar Americana and country producer Dave Cobb.

Out April 20 on Warner Music Nashville, Sparrow features collaborations with several of Monroe's fellow singer-songwriters, such as Ryan Beaver, Kassi Ashton, Angaleena Presley, Brendan Benson and Anderson East.
Sparrow is the follow up to Monroe's Grammy-nominated 2015 album The Blade.
Lyrics to 'Paying Attention':
I'm paying attention, so give me a sign
You're all that I'm seeing, now that you are not mine
I'm paying attention to you
Oh now, I'm paying attention to you
It's snowing in April, yeah the winters are long
I remembered your birthday, now that you're gone
I'm paying attention to you
Oh now, I'm paying attention to you
He's standing beside me, he's holding my hand
I see his lips moving but I don't understand
'Cause I'm paying attention to you
Oh now, I'm paying attention to you
You promised I'd miss you when you walked away
You were right when you told me I'd be sorry someday
Well, I'm paying attention to you
Oh now, I'm paying attention to you
I'm paying attention, so give me a sign
You're all that I'm seeing, now that you're not mine
I'm paying attention to you
Oh now, I'm paying attention to you
