Kacey Musgraves still bats 1,000 when it comes to topping the charts with her mainstream, non-holiday albums after Golden Hour's strong debut. Like 2010 breakthrough Same Trailer, Different Park and 2015's Pageant Material, Musgraves' latest album claimed the top spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.

A different-sounding country album that lives up to the hype didn't need a slow build to the top. Golden Hour debuted at number one with a bullet. It shot past artists ranging from fellow game-changer Chris Stapleton to pop crossover phenomenon Kane Brown. The album already reached 49,000 in total consumption, which includes numbers from streaming and download services.

Golden Hour also tops the vinyl sales chart, supplanting reissues of obvious Beatles and Prince albums. Musgraves seemingly does well with multiple types of listeners, from record collectors to casual fans more interested in cherry-picking a few favorites. After all, when your album captures the range of emotions and sounds heard on "High Horse," "Velvet Elvis" and other standout tracks, you're going to end up on a lot of different playlists.
With high profile tours on the way, including a chance to win over Harry Styles' young fan base, it might not take long for Golden Hour to gain gold certification.
