Much like "Chattanooga Lucy," a fan favorite from his most recent record Mr. Misunderstood, "Desperate Man" has a groovy, soulful vibe with plenty of attitude. From the song's opening guitar riffs to the building piano lines, Church brings the perfect blend of swampy rock and roll to the modern country world. In true Church form, he has presented something completely different than anything else you can hear on country radio today, and that's definitely a good thing.

"Desperate Man" was produced by Jay Joyce and co-written with Texas music icon Ray Wylie Hubbard, who Church namechecked in his hit single "Mr. Misunderstood."

In a message livestreamed yesterday (July 12), the North Carolina native kept his message to fans short and sweet.

"It's been a while; I just want to say I have missed you," Church stated in the video above. "I have good news. The album is done, and we are back."

"Desperate Man" will be his first new single since "Round Here Buzz," which made it to No. 2 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Last year, he released 61 Days in Church, a live album featuring recordings from his massively popular Holdin' My Own Tour.

During his big announcement, Church also teased tour dates to be announced in the months ahead. "I look forward to seeing you on the road," he told fans. "I'm very proud of this album."

Earlier this week, Church performed a moving tribute to his brother, Brandon, who recently passed away.

More details about Church's new album are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Currently, Church is on the road performing an array of festival dates across the country that will last through the summer. You can find all of the country star's upcoming concert dates via his official website, ericchurch.com.
