Ed Sheeran may not be a country singer, but he clearly has a lot of love for the genre. So much so that he skipped out on the 2018 American Music Awards, where he was nominated for Artist of the Year, to sit in the round at Nashville's historic Bluebird Cafe.

Joining singer-songwriters Amy Wadge, Jillian Jacqueline, David Hodges and Devin Dawson, the "Shape of You" singer turned up at the end of the night to sing his smash hit "Thinking Out Loud" with Wadge, who co-wrote the song with Sheeran.
Wadge shared a video of their gorgeous duet on her Instagram.
"Just played @bluebirdcafetn with @zdevin @jillianjacqueline and @hodgesmusic and @teddysphotos joined me on this and it made my year," Wadge wrote.

The Bluebird Cafe, which opened in 1982, is an esteemed songwriting venue. The 90-seat venue has hosted Garth Brooks, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and countless other legendary artists throughout the years. The Music City staple was heavily featured on the CMT show Nashville.
Sheeran headlined Nashville's Nissan Stadium on Oct. 6 and seems to have stayed in town in the days following the concert. He also made a surprise appearance at Bruno Mars' Nashville concert on Oct. 8.
The pop star has penned songs for country and Americana artists, having co-written Anderson East's "All of My Mind" and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's "The Rest of Our Life." He also co-wrote "Everything Has Changed" with a pre-pop Taylor Swift. The song was included on Swift's 2012 album Red.
In addition to his professional connections, Sheeran just seems to have a deep appreciation for country music. Back in April, the singer shared an Instagram story in which he and a pal sang Luke Combs' "When it Rains it Pours" at karaoke.
Who knows? Maybe one day we'll see a country album from the pop superstar.
