Randy Houser went back to his songwriting roots for the Jan. 11 release of Magnolia -- a heartfelt departure from his search for a radio hit. Now the Trace Adkins and Jamey Johnson collaborator turned "Like a Cowboy" singer plans to take his live show on the road with opening support provided by fellow vocal powerhouse Paul Cauthen.

Houser helped write Adkins' 2005 hit "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" before signing his first major-label deal in 2008. Since then, he's racked up six top 10 hits: "Boots On" (2009), "How Country Feels" (2015), "Runnin' Outta Moonlight" (2013), "Goodnight Kiss" (2014), "Like a Cowboy" (2015) and "We Went" (2016). Standout tracks from Magnolia include duets with Lucie Silvas ("Our Hearts") and Hillary Lindsey ("What Whiskey Does").
The tour begins in late October, taking Houser and Cauthen from the latter's home state of Texas to some the East Coast's better-known theaters in the musical hotbeds of Athens, Ga., New York City and Richmond, Va. It's a well-paced tour with time off in between a string of multi-night stands.
