Tucker was among the 35 celebrities announced Friday (June 21) as 2020 honorees. The list of musical artists given the same honor features Elvis Costello, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, Billy Idol, Bobby Rydell and Muddy Waters. Inductees from the worlds of film, television and theater include Chris Hemsworth, Julia Roberts, Terry Crews, Spike Lee, Octavia Spencer and the late Troy Gentry's favorite superhero, Batman.
"This year's choices were particularly unique," says Selection Committee Chair and Walk of Famer Vin Di Bona in a press release. "We were able to recognize the talents of thirty-five artists who have already built a legacy here in Hollywood. Also, we were able to celebrate many new talented artists who've touched our hearts in film, television, radio and a variety of musical categories."

Before Friday's announcement, only a dozen country acts had gotten the call: Alabama, Garth Brooks, Glen Campbell, Patsy Cline, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain and Rascal Flatts.
Tucker rose to fame at age 13 with her 1972 version of "Delta Dawn." She solidified that early career success with three straight number one hits in '73, a mid-'80s resurgence, a spot in the 1994 Super Bowl Halftime Show and an ongoing mainstream comeback made possible by like-minded rebel Brandi Carlile.
Induction dates have not been scheduled. Tucker and other recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection. Once Tucker's ceremony is scheduled, it will be announced just 10 days in advance.
