The Walker family's new addition is named after the country star's great-great grandfather and the relative who first settled in Beaumont, Texas.
"Everyone called him 'The Dane' and Jess and I are really excited to be able to name [our son] after that man," Clay told People about his new son's namesake. "I always heard the stories about what a great cow man he was, and so as I was growing up, my dad was a cow man and passed that down to me and here I am passing it down to my three sons — soon to be four sons, named after the guy that started it all. So it's a pretty nice circle of life."
Christiaan is the baby brother of William Clayton (age 12), Mary Elizabeth (11), Elijah Craig (7) and Ezra Stephen Walker (3).
Walker also has two adult daughters, MaClay DaLayne and Skylor ClayAnne, from his previous marriage to rodeo queen Lori Jayne Lampson.
In an interview with People, Walker said that Mary Elizabeth was initially upset that she wasn't getting a sister.
"The shock of it being another boy, for Mary, it lasted a couple of hours. There were some tears shed, I won't lie," Walker says. "It was because of expectation, but that was overcome with the thought that we're not in control of that. We don't decide if it's a boy or girl, and she was able to understand that after a while."
Walker celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary with Jessica in September 2020, just four months before their fifth baby together was due.
"I can honestly say that she's a saint, and everyone around her knows it too," Walker told People about Christiaan's mama. "She absolutely loves being a mom. It's the toughest job on Earth, and I wish there was more adoration and homage paid to mothers because there's not a more unselfish way of life than being a mom. It's tough. And it's worth it."

Walker first rose to prominence in the '90s with "What's It to You," "Live Until I Die," "If I Could Make a Living," "Rumor Has It" and other hits. More recently, he's been working on new music with Nashville songwriters, including current single "Easy Goin."
Because of Walker's multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 1996, the family has been cautiously laying low in Texas. Walker told People that his doctor "basically told me that having MS means that my mortality rate, if I did in fact contract COVID-19, would be twice that of a normal person. "
