This Wild West Chicken Coop Town is Perfect for Backyard Chickens

If you thought the Old West was just for films and TV shows, you can guess again. In maybe one of the most impressive DIY hacks of all time, one man made a chicken coop wild west town for his wife's chickens and it is seriously adorable, which is probably why this chicken coop style is receiving some trending buzz online right now (just Google it for more fun photos). While it might seem daunting, this little coop town pretty much outlines everything you'll need to make your own western-themed coop.

Rooster's Ridge

To start, you'll need a solid name like Rooster's Ridge. That just sounds like it came out of an old John Wayne movie. Then you need all of the essential buildings that will comprise the whole town and really make it feel like the wild wild west.

Barbershop

You'll need a barbershop, complete with a place to park the horses out front and a questionable looking local lawyer next door.

Local Jail and Hotel

Don't forget about the jailhouse of course and a hotel for visiting chickens. "Hotel Eggcelsior" is pretty cute so this is a great opportunity to play around with names.

Blacksmith

You ride horses in the west so no old western town is complete without a local blacksmith!

Saloon

Last but not least, you won't have a complete little chicken coop town without a saloon. This is where all the action happens.

If you want to have fun raising chickens and create your own wild west style chicken coop, we've rounded up a few ideas that can help you give a stunning town that rivals these photos.

Chicken Coop Ideas

- Flip a small kids playhouse. Turn it into a hotel, church, or other large building in your chicken town. Since they are the perfect size for a toddler, dare we say they are also the perfect size for chickens? Hit up Amazon for an affordable log cabin playhouse that will fit your western aesthetic.

- Use easy backyard chicken coop plans you can purchase online for a white or red barn like this one on Etsy. You could easily label the building to be anything in the old west and completely transform its look.

- Use a small garden shed to create some of the buildings in the town. Most of these plans are incredibly simple but will end up looking fabulous as part of your final creation.

- Get creative with your own chicken coop. If you're handy, you could even add on a mini-farm or livery stables for "the horses." Just make sure they're just a short drive (ride) away from the blacksmith!
