Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada stars in the 2020 Sony Pictures film Yellow Rose, about an undocumented Filipino-American girl named Rose Garcia who dreams of leaving her small Texas town to pursue her dream of becoming a country singer. After her mother is picked up by immigration and Customs Enforcement, Rose is forced to flee her hometown and seek out a new life in the honky tonk world of Austin, Texas. There she meets a kindhearted musician (country music icon Dale Watson, playing himself), who becomes a mentor to Rose.

The film's soundtrack features several collaborations between Noblezada and Watson, including the tenacious, stirring "Quietly Into the Night," written by the film's director Diane Paragas.
"They can take the roof from over my head," Noblezada and Watson sing. "But they can't take my freedom away/ No, I won't go quietly into the night/ And I'll sing 'til the light of day."
The video, which Wide Open Country is premiering today, features clips from Yellow Rose, which was partially filmed in Austin. (Texans will recognize Austin hot spots, such as the legendary honky tonk The Broken Spoke.)

Yellow Rose also stars Lea Salonga, Princess Punzalan, Liam Booth, Libby Villari and Gustavo Gomez.
"Yellow Rose is a deeply personal film I've been pursuing for the better part of 15 years," director Diane Paragas said in statement on the film's official website. "After escaping Martial Law in the Philippines, my family moved to Lubbock, Texas when I was 4. As the only Filipino growing up in Lubbock, I often felt alienated and I used music and art as means of escape. I even formed a (not very good) band, shaved my head and we managed to record a single and play at bars when I was in high school. When I started to pursue film, I was interested in the idea of taking those childhood memories but twisting it... My hope is that Yellow Rose puts a human face on the plight of Dreamers, while entertaining the audience with original Americana music that they might not have listened to before."
Yellow Rose is out now on digital and is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on January 5.
