During Sunday's (Oct. 22) Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Loretta Lynn made a surprise appearance to honor her friend Alan Jackson.
The 85-year-old has been quietly recovering from a stroke she suffered back in May. But health issues weren't going to stop Lynn from paying tribute to Jackson during his special day. With the help of fellow guest George Strait and her daughter, Patsy, Lynn made her way to the podium. There, she shared stories of her long friendship with Alan.
"The first time I ever met Alan, he looked like a scared little boy," Loretta told the crowd with a smile. "He was practicing backstage, going through his songs, and I looked at him and said, 'You're going to be one of the greatest singers in country music.' He hadn't let me down."
After Lynn's sweet speech, George Strait took the stage to perform his rendition of Jackson's 2003 hit "Remember When."
The late singer and guitarist Jerry Reed and songwriter Don Schlitz were also awarded with their Country Music Hall of Fame medallions, marking their entry into one of country music's most exclusive and famous clubs.
