Maren Morris continues to beautifully interpret songs with her powerful vocals every time she hits the stage. Although she's busier than ever, Morris took time out of her tour schedule to be the first guest on iHeart's fourth annual Bobby Bones Show event, Joy Week. On it, she covered John Prine's modern country staple, "Angel From Montgomery."

It's no wonder why "Angel From Montgomery" is a fan favorite cover of Morris' during her tours, either. Hearing it in a smaller space with studio microphones, listeners can fully appreciate the sheer strength and sentiment exuding from Morris and her band. Morris brings a slow-burning soul to the track beside her trademark twang. The end result ultimately fades the line between the country and R&B artists whose renditions of the song came before hers.
The heart-wrenching cover even commands the attention of Bones himself. He just can't help but shout out and clap in excitement towards the performance's end, and we're right there with him. Really, just like Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris can sing us the phone book anytime she wants. She can bring along her band, too, who only elevated her Joy Week performance with their incredible musicality.
Aside from "Angel From Montgomery", Morris also performed her own hits like "My Church" and "80s Cadillac". She also performed a cover that might come across as more surprising to country fans in the form of Beyoncé's "All Night Long."

"Angel From Montgomery" Lyrics:
I am an old woman
Named after my mother
My old man is another
Child that's grown old
If dreams were thunder
Lightning was desire
This old house woulda burnt down
A long time ago
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
When I was a young girl
Well I had me a cowboy
It weren't much to look at
Just a free ramblin' man
But that was a long time
And no matter how I tried
Those years just flow by
Like a broken down dam
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
There's flies in the kitchen
I can hear them there buzzin'
And I ain't done nothin' since I woke up today
But how the hell can a person
Go to work in the mornin'
And come home in the evenin'
And have nothin' to say
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
