It's hard to resist bringing home bushels of apples when you go apple picking at a local orchard in the fall. This homemade apple pie vodka recipe is so much fun that even if you don't have apples leftover from your orchard adventure, you're going to want to get some just to make it. The prep is super easy, even if the total time includes a few weeks of waiting for the vodka to infuse. Once it's done, though, you'll have the excellent makings of a fall cocktail or a great hostess gift.

How to Make Flavored Apple Pie Vodka with Sweet Apples

Start off by preparing the cinnamon simple syrup. Mix together equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add four cinnamon sticks and let the mixture sit until it's cool, which should take about 20 minutes. Once it's cool, pour the simple syrup along with the cinnamon sticks into a 32-oz mason jar, then add in the apple slices and the vodka. You can use red or green apples, whatever your favorite type of apple is works here.

Shake the bottle and refrigerate for three days. Once the three days have passed, strain the alcohol through a fine-mesh strainer and into a clean mason jar. Keep the apple pie vodka in a cool dark place. For a perfect fall cocktail, use the apple pie vodka to make a ginger apple spritzer, by mixing the apple vodka with apple cider and ginger ale or ginger beer. Mix with caramel vodka for a caramel apple martini!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 apples, sliced
  • 2 cups vodka

For The Ginger Apple Spritzer

  • 2 oz apple vodka
  • 2 oz apple cider
  • 1 oz ginger ale

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the cinnamon simple syrup by mixing together the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat.Add cinnamon sticks and let sit until cool, about 20 minutes.
  • In a 32-oz mason jar add the simple syrup along with the cinnamon sticks. Add in the sliced apples and the vodka. Shake the bottle and place in the fridge for 3 days.
  • Once the three days have passed, strain the alcohol through a fine mesh strainer and into a clean mason jar. Keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

For The Ginger Apple Spritzer

  • In a cocktail shaker combine the apple vodka and apple cider. Pour into a glass filled with ice and top with the ginger ale.
