While it may be the shortest month of the year, Applebee's is celebrating all February has to offer with its popular rum based drink, the Bahama Mama. The casual food chain knows what a rough month February is (winter seems to drag, the flu is going around, and bills from the holidays are still in the outbox) so they've decided to offer customers a tropical getaway in a glass.

The DOLLARMOMMA (yes, that capitalization is intentional) is available now at participating Applebee's restaurants until the end of the month. Previous monthly cocktails specials include $1 Long Island Iced Teas back in December and $1 Margaritas last October.
If you've never had a Bahama Mama, you better grab some shades because this cocktail is a one-way ticket to the tropics. So if you're looking for an inexpensive Valentine date along with a mini getaway in a glass, this is one of the best drink recipes you can order.
A fruity mixture of pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice, coconut, cherry and a heavy splash of white rum makes this mixed drink as tropical as can be.
The DOLLARMOMMA is served in a 10 oz. mug and like the prior dollar cocktail promotions, can be purchased with Applebee's gift cards. As always enjoy DOLLARMOMMA cocktails responsibly.
How to Make Your Own Bahama Momma Cocktail at Home
For those of you who would rather enjoy this cocktail in the comfort of your own home (or better yet on the beach) we wanted to include a copycat Applebee's Bahama Mama cocktail recipe for a homemade version of the drink.
In a large glass (or if you are preparing for a crowd, a pitcher) combine together white rum, coconut rum and dark rum. While the Applebee's Bahama Mama uses just white rum, we think the addition of Malibu coconut rum and dark rum adds a great depth of flavor. You really can't go wrong with rum!
Once the rums are combined add in orange juice, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine syrup. Some recipes call for banana liqueur or adding a splash of lemon-lime beverage, but we prefer that the rums and fruit juices are the star of the show. You can add crushed ice or go without so you don't dilute this tasty Bahama Mama cocktail.
Garnish with an orange slice, a maraschino cherry, a pineapple wedge and one of those paper umbrellas. Keep this in your recipe box for when you need an instant pick-me-up. After all, you're in the tropics now.
