Billy the Kid is back, and with it comes a slew of recognizable actors embodying legendary Old West figures. The MGM+ Western series debuted in 2022 as a rare age-accurate story of Billy the Kid, perhaps the most famous outlaw in American history. While Season 1 tracked Billy's tragic upbringing in an Irish Catholic immigrant family, Season 2 digs into Billy's role in the notorious Lincoln County War where he made his name. Among this season's Billy the Kid cast members are some familiar faces and some exciting new recruits.

For starters, series star Tom Blyth is back as the titular gunslinger. Blyth is set to star in the buzzy new Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but Billy the Kid marked the young actor's breakout. Daniel Webber also returns as Billy's friend, foe and foil Jesse Evans, another real-life icon of the Wild West. Webber will appear in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa. Billy the Kid Season 2 will release in two parts: Part 1, consisting of four episodes, begins airing on MGM+ on Oct. 15. The remaining four episodes will drop in 2024.
The Billy the Kid cast also features film and TV greats you'll recognize from shows like Law & Order and Virgin River, along with some rising talents from international cinema. But with all those gunslingers and lawmen vying for a piece of Lincoln County, Billy the Kid can be a little overwhelming — especially if you're not obsessed with Old West lore. So we've rounded up all the main players in Season 2, detailing their roles in the central conflict and their notable past appearances across movies and TV series.
Tom Blyth as Billy the Kid
Prior to starring in Billy the Kid, Tom Blyth appeared in Benediction (2021) and the first season of HBO's The Gilded Age. The 28-year-old actor will next star as a young Coriolanus Snow in the Hunger Games prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Daniel Webber as Jesse Evans
Daniel Webber stars opposite Blyth as Billy's frenemy Jesse Evans, the real-life gunslinger and leader of the Seven Rivers gang. The Australian actor gained praise as a young Lee Harvey Oswald in Hulu's 11.22.63, a 2016 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name. Webber's other credits include The Punisher and Escape from Pretoria. He has a supporting role in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film Furiosa.
Linus Roache as John Tunstall
British great Linus Roache plays John Tunstall, the refined Englishman who Billy supports in the Lincoln County War. Perhaps best known for his role as Michael Cutter in the Law & Order franchise, Roache received an Emmy nomination for his starring role in the 2002 TV biopic RFK. He's also appeared in shows like Homeland and Vikings, and in recent films The Apology and My Policeman.
Nuria Vega as Dulcinea
Up-and-coming Mexican actress Nuria Vega plays Dulcinea Del Tobosco, Billy's love interest. Vega began her acting career in 2016 with roles in Spanish-language film and TV series. She's best known for her supporting role in 2022's Señorita 89.
Vincent Walsh as Major Murphy
Irish-born actor Vincent Walsh plays the villainous Major Lawrence Murphy, a racketeering merchant in the pocket of the corrupt Santa Fe Ring. Walsh has appeared in countless British and American TV series and movies since the 1990s, including the original Degrassi High, Saving Private Ryan and The Young Messiah.
Alex Roe as Pat Garrett
If you're well-versed in Billy the Kid's life, then you know Alex Roe's role as Lincoln County Sheriff Pat Garrett is crucial. But Roe is up to the task. The English actor previously starred in the Freeform series Siren and the 2018 romantic drama Forever My Girl.
David Cubitt as Thomas Catron
Virgin River fans will recognize David Cubitt as that show's dreaded drug lord Calvin. In Billy the Kid, he plays Thomas Catron, a powerful boss of the Santa Fe Ring. Cubitt is a prolific TV actor best known for his role as Detective Lee Scanlon in Medium. He's also appeared in shows like Joe Pickett, Ray Donovan and The X-Files.
Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen as Edgar Walz
Amsterdam-born actor Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen joins the cast of Billy the Kid Season 2 as Edgar Walz, Catron's agent in Lincoln County. In real life, Walz was Catron's brother-in-law. Matthijs has had leading roles in Dutch-language films and TV shows like the thriller flick Boy 7 and the 2023 miniseries Legacy.
