Blake Shelton's song "God's Country" may have served as a country career revival for the singer and The Voice judge, but it's clear that the song is more than just his latest No. 1 hit -- it's a statement of faith. In an interview with Nashville paper The Tennesseean, Shelton credits God for his recent life changes, especially his relationship with Gwen Stefani.

"I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life," Shelton said. "The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It's just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn't make sense. If you put God into it, everything that's happened with us makes sense."
Shelton shared that Stefani encourage him to start attending church regularly, which made him realize he needed a change.
"God's Country," written by Devin Dawson, Hardy and Jordan Schmidt, had an immediate impact on Shelton, who called the song a "revelation."
"There is still the old-school segment of country music fans out there that are starved for that," Shelton said. "But even more than that is this new young generation of country music fans ... who know 'Country Boy Can Survive,' and they want their generation's version of that song. That really excited me to know that that part of country music is alive and well out there, it just hasn't been fed."

"God's Country" isn't the only spiritual song on Shelton's forthcoming album Fully Loaded: God's Country. Earlier this year, the singer released "Jesus Got a Tight Grip."
Fully Loaded: God's Country also includes Shelton's collaboration with Trace Adkins, "Hell Right," and his new duet with Stefani, "Nobody But You."
The Oklahoma native will hit the road for his 2020 Friends and Heroes Tour, featuring Adkins, John Anderson, Lauren Alaina and the Bellamy Brothers.
'God's Country' Lyrics:
There's a gold dirt road to a whole lot of nothin'
Got a deed to the land, but it ain't my ground
This is God's country
We pray for rain, and thank Him when it's fallen
'Cause it brings a grain and a little bit of money
We put it back in the plate
I guess that's why they call it God's country
Sittin' back in the 40 on the muddy riverside
Gettin' baptized in holy water and shine
With the dogs runnin'
Saved by the sound of the been found
Dixie whistled in the wind, that'll get you Heaven bound
The Devil went down to Georgia, but he didn't stick around
This is God's country
We take a break and break bread on Sunday
And then do it all again
'Cause we're proud to be from God's country (Yeah, yeah)
