Pizza Dough Recipe

The ingredients are simple and easy to find at your grocery store. For the pizza crust you'll need: olive oil, bread flour, kosher salt, sugar, warm water and instant dry yeast. In your stand mixer make sure you're using the dough hook. This attachment helps with kneading the dough and takes much of the hard work out of it. To the stand mixer, add 4 cups bread flour, 1 teaspoon sugar, yeast, and salt. Add 1 1/2 cups water while the mixer is running. You want to use lukewarm water to bloom the yeast so it can properly rise. With the mixer running, add the olive oil until the dough forms a ball. Dump the ball onto a floured work surface and knead the dough until it forms a firm ball.

Once kneaded, place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for one hour. After one hour, split the ball into two equal pieces, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 10 minutes.

Bobby Flay Pizza Dough Tips

Using bread flour results in a light and crispy crust. If you want to use all-purpose flour, you can, but your dough will result in a chewier crust. If you prefer a chewy crust, then by all means substitute the flour.

The video ends before the cooking of the dough, but you'll want to preheat your oven to 500 Degrees F. Cook the pizza for 5 minutes on the bottom rack and 5 minutes on the top.

If you like a Margherita-style pizza, you'll want to make a pizza sauce from scratch. You'll also want to top the pizza with fresh mozzarella and basil. For a perfect pizza sauce, check out A Couple Cooks' recipe here.
