Brantley Gilbert Unites Dogs With Veterans' Families at Spring Tour Stops

As part of his spring The Ones That Like Me Tour, Brantley Gilbert is helping four-legged friends land forever homes with military veterans. Gilbert and his partners plan to gift one dog to a family each weekend of his current tour.

Gilbert teamed with several different companies and organizations to make this happen. Custom Canine Unlimited trained the eight dogs, recruited by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The new pet owners, identified by Disabled American Veterans, will receive a year's supply of food from Pedigree.

"Nothing helps heal like an animal's love," said Gilbert in a press release. "These dogs aren't just good dogs, they're trained to help their veteran—and new companion—cope with stress, memories and triggers people can't see and provide them with a sense of solid grounding."

While the veterans get a new best friend, Gilbert gets to witness the makings of those bonds in-person.

"Seeing the faces of these vets when their dog comes bouncing into the room melts your heart," he says in a press release. "I know for these families, beyond being the family's new best friend, these animals are helping heal things for these soldiers in ways nothing else can."
