Better check your freezers before heating up a frozen burrito. Ruiz Food Products, Inc., a Denison, Texas establishment, is recalling 50,706 pounds of their breakfast burritos due to an extraneous material contamination. In layman's terms, it's inedible bits and pieces that should not be in any burrito, ever.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announcement came today after the company received complaints that the consumers found "white, semi-rigid plastic pieces" in their burrito. Not something one wants mixed in with the sausage and eggs.
The frozen breakfast burritos were produced on March 3,2018 and have the following labels:
The 3.38-lb package contains 12 Count, 4.5-ounce individually wrapped frozen "EL MONTEREY SIGNATURE BURRITOS, EGG, SAUSAGE, CHEESE & POTATO" with lot code 18062 and 18063, and a best if used date of 3/3/2019 or 3/4/2019.
The frozen cook and serve breakfast burritos have the establishment number "EST. 17523A" on the back of the packaging.
While there are no reports of illness or harm from accidentally consuming these products, consumers are advised to contact a healthcare provider if concerned. If you have these breakfast burritos in your freezer currently, the FSIS urges consumers to throw away the products or return them to the store for a full-refund.
Have a question? Consumers with questions about the recall should contact the company's consumer line at 800-772-6474. You can also "Ask Karen," the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov or via smartphone at m.askkaren.gov.
This recall follows a recall of 250,000 pounds of frozen burritos back in May of 2017. At the time the Green Chile Food Company, a New Mexico-based company, had recalled the burritos due to listeria concern. While this recall isn't as health-serious, it's still never fun to bite into a burrito and find something hard, white and that somewhat looks like a tooth.
