Brave Cowboy Cheats Death, Survives Crushing Blow by Rodeo Bull

Bull rider Bradie Gray was thrown from and crushed by Levi the Boss on Thurs., June 15. Apparently, the bull isn't as boss as he thought: Gray recently walked right out of the intensive care unit and into a surgical recovery room.

According to Oil City News, doctors were shocked by how quickly Gray, a fourth generation Australian rodeo competitor, recovered from the blow. When he was brought to the Wyoming Medical Center's emergency room, Gray didn't even have a pulse. His protective vest was crushed and the encounter left him with broken ribs, a bruised aorta, and collapsed lungs. He was put on a ventilator. The doctors put him into a medically induced coma — really, just hoping he'd pull through.

He's done more than stay alive. Gray is recovering better than anyone could have hoped for. He's antsy and sick of the food. So far, he's requested pizza and Chipotle burritos.

For Gray — who's suffered injuries before, though nothing this serious — the whole experience seems like just another day. However, he doesn't remember much about the accident, only getting stepped on and then waking up.

When he finally gained consciousness:  "Everyone was here. Almost brought tears to my eyes," said Gray.

Despite the serious injury and intense recovery, Gray is still thinking about the rodeo. "Play it day by day, whenever I'm good enough is the day it'll be," Gray told Oil City News.

Per his family, it'll be another two weeks or so before the doctors give Gray the okay to travel. Then, he'll head to his home in Odessa, Texas. He's expected to make a full recovery, so we don't doubt this cowboy will be riding again soon.

His family has started a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills.
