Does joy come from reaching your destination or experiencing the journey itself? In her new song "Road to Happiness," Cam thoughtfully examines what's really important in life.
The heartfelt track serves as a reminder to us all about staying in the moment. "Is the future that we're chasing worth the right nows that we miss?" Whether your focused on chasing your dreams or just too sucked into social media, "Road to Happiness" is a stunningly beautiful wake-up call. Through expert storytelling, dreamy instrumentation and her mind-blowing vocals, Cam acts as that wise, often suppressed inner voice that pushes us to stop and smell the flowers.
"Road to Happiness" will likely be featured on Cam's upcoming sophomore record. Although its release date has not yet been announced, it will follow up 2015's Untamed, which included her breakout hit "Burning House" and fan favorite "Cold in California."
Earlier this year, Cam dropped the critically-acclaimed track "Diane," which was written as a response to Dolly Parton's legendary hit, "Jolene." In a genre that's overwhelming dominated with male artists, especially when it comes to radio airplay, Cam says she is dedicated to putting an emphasis on storytelling from a female perspective.
"A lot of it is just stories that I think are really important that women get to hear right now and people get to hear right now," Cam, whose real name is Camaron Ochs, told Wide Open Country of her new songs in an interview during CMA Fest 2018. "But I think because right now there's just not a lot of girls, it puts an extra responsibility to make sure you're making music that women can enjoy because other people aren't really making sure of that."

In recent weeks, Cam has performed in Nashville, New York City and over a dozen cities as the opening act for Sam Smith's The Thrill of It All Tour. She also dropped "Palace (Cover)," her own rendition of a track she wrote for Smith. (Smith's version of the song is featured on his 2017 record The Thrill of It All.)
Cam's Road to Happiness Tour will hit multiple venues this October, including Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Mass. Additional dates can be found at Cam's official website.
"Road to Happiness" Lyrics:
Be careful who you hang around
Beliefs are sticky things
Stick on your shoes and on your soul
Rearrange your dream
Get good so climbing you stop asking where it leads
On this road to happiness
It's the wild unknown
It's a ball and chain
It's a no-end destination
We keep driving anyway
Is the future that we're chasing worth the right nows that we miss
On this road to happiness
I'm taking time to ask myself where I want to be
Does the flower growing in the ground worry just like me?
Does he love the sun so much that he don't mind the weeds?
On this road to happiness
It's the wild unknown
It's a ball and chain
It's a no-end destination
We keep driving anyway
Is the future that we're chasing worth the right nows that we miss
On this road to happiness
Be careful who you hang around
Beliefs are sticky things
It's the wild unknown
It's a ball and chain
It's a no-end destination
We keep driving anyway
Is the future that we're chasing worth the right nows that we miss
On this road to happiness
