Saint Luna Moonshine

The Carolina Swizzle Moonshine Cocktail is Made for Grilling Dads

Dads, stop drinking beer while grilling. Instead, sip on all-American moonshine, the quintessential liquor made for brats and burgers. A cross between an Alabama Slammer and a Classic Rum Swizzle, The Carolina Swizzle is Dad's favorite new moonshine cocktail. Made with Saint Luna Moonshine, this tart and smoky cocktail is stacked with vanilla, citrus, and Caribbean spices that'll have Dad chillin' and grillin' no matter how hot it is outside. Perfectly paired with flip-flops and skirt steaks, the Carolina Swizzle is essential to your Father's Day festivities.

Created by Aubrey, Head Mixologist at Saint Luna, the smoky cocktail calls attention to the smoothness of Saint Luna Moonshine, which is locally manufactured in North Carolina. "Dads should be sipping on Moonshine cause it's as American as apple pie; it's part of American history, less filling than beer and it mixes well with just about anything you throw at (it if you prefer)," Aubrey notes while mixing the cocktail.

While mixing a cocktail might take a few more minutes than popping open a beer bottle, one sip will assure you that you made the right choice. Each of these ingredients can be found at your local liquor store or online (Falernum is easily found on Amazon and can be used in different cocktails such as Mai Tais, Rum Collins, and of course, this cocktail recipe).

As for the peaty scotch we recommend using something like BenRiach The Smoky Ten or Islay Mist. A smoky whiskey would work as well in a pinch.

In a shaker with ice, combine Saint Luna Moonshine, amaretto, scotch, Falernum and pink grapefruit juice and shake until chilled. Pour into a glass and top with a healthy 8 to 10 dashes of Angostura bitters.
