Carrie Underwood Makes History as 'Cry Pretty' Debuts at No. 1

Carrie Underwood can add another major accomplishment to her already lengthy list of achievements. The country star is the first female artist to have four country albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart. Underwood's new album Cry Pretty marked the singer's fourth album to debut at the top of the charts. The "Before He Cheats" singer's 2012 album Blown Away, 2009 album Play On and 2007 album Carnival Ride previously debuted at No. 1 on the chart.

With 266,000 equivalent album units, Cry Pretty is an impressive debut for music overall, earning Underwood the best sales week by a female artist this year. The album inched out Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy, which previously held the record for the year. Cry Pretty knocked Eminem's album Kamikaze from the top spot on the Billboard albums chart this week.

For those keeping score, Taylor Swift has had five albums debut at No. 1. However, only three charted on the Top Country Albums chart.

Just a few days after the release of her record-breaking album, Underwood received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Underwood joins Clint Black, Shania Twain, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Glen Campbell, Faith Hill and more on the list of country stars who've received stars on the Walk of Fame.

Underwood's latest single "Love Wins" is currently at No. 36 on the Billboard Top Country Songs chart. The country superstar recently spoke out on the lack of women on country radio and the challenges faced by female artists.

In November, Underwood will co-host the 2018 CMA Awards with Brad Paisley.
