Before the pandemic, Ree filmed her show with an entire camera crew. However, once it was deemed unsafe, Ree's kids took over the job, filming their mom do what she does best. Filmed on cellphones, Ree's show is shot in a more comfortable setting, almost as if the audience is sitting at the counter with her.
And it's not only Ree on the show. The kids interject their thoughts on the recipe and in this instance, can make a recipe more difficult. The tension rises between Ree and her daughter Alex, who tells her mom to add more beef filling to the large flour tortilla. After adding on the sour cream, Fritos corn chips, and grated cheddar cheese, the burrito looks like it is about to burst. Ree begins to fold up the burrito however Alex interjects saying she's doing it wrong and points out that it's ripped.
Ree responds with a "Golly! Ma'am!" and tries to brush Alex off and continue with the recipe. I would be frustrated too if I was in Ree's boots!
How to Make Chili Pie Burritos
This easy recipe features everything you love about chili pie! To start, make the chili in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef and add in the garlic and tomato paste and cook for one minute. Add the kidney beans, tomato sauce, tomatoes and green chiles, chili powder, salt and pepper, and simmer until thickened. You can also add in diced jalapenos if you want a bit more of a kick!
Once the chili is thickened, prepare the burritos by placing some of the chili mixture on the tortilla and adding sour cream, Fritos corn chips, and grated cheddar cheese. Roll up and repeat.
Meanwhile heat up a little olive oil in a pan. Toast the burritos on each side until golden brown and serve! Go over the top and garnish with pico de gallo, more shredded cheese, or even queso! Taco Tuesdays just got a whole lot more delicious.
