Chris Janson's "My Favorite Memory" cover shows a softer side of the singer. His Jagger-like moves aren't present so his voice takes center stage for the Merle Haggard song.

When Janson visited the iconic Grand Ole Opry late last year, he had a big treat for the audience. During his set, he took a break from his own songs and snuck in this Haggard classic. If you've seen Janson perform before, you know he's known for stomping his feet, kicking his leg and jamming on the harmonica. This performance was nothing like that.
The Opry was silent when Janson started the song and powerfully demanded their attention. Dressed down in a red plaid shirt, his voice was only accompanied by his own acoustic guitar for the opening. Roughly a minute into the song, the lights over the Opry band returned as they joined him.
"There's a million good daydreams to dream on, but baby you are my favorite memory of all," he sang with a slight smile. "Like the night we made love in the hallway, slept all night long the floor."

As the song ended, Janson strummed his guitar quickly before taking a moment to address the Opry audience.
"Thank you much," he said with a big smile. "Thank you for letting me do that. I wanted to do that all year long."
Janson's take on the song was his tribute to the late Merle Haggard and it was one of our favorite memories from the 2016 Opry season. Watch Chris Janson "My Favorite Memory" above and let us know what you think of the cover in the comments below.
