On Wednesday, Stapleton welcomed a small group of individuals to historic RCA Studio A. There, he revealed the title of his new album, From A Room: Volume 1. That album drops May 5, and the second volume comes out later this year.
Even better news? You can preorder Volume 1 starting right now. He has both digital and physical options (which include t-shirts).
As we guessed, Dave Cobb helmed both Volume 1 and Volume 2. He produced the albums in historic RCA Studio A, which is precisely where the album gets its name.
"I'm real proud of this record," Stapleton told the intimate audience gathered to hear the news. "We made it right here in (RCA Studio A) like the last one. We camped out in here and had a lot of fun recording things."
The first album features nine songs. Stapleton co-wrote eight of them, including "Broken Halos" and "Either Way," which he premiered at the recent ACM Awards. "Either Way" serves as the Volume 1's first single.
Stapleton also covers "The Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning," which Gary P. Nunn and Donna Sioux Farar wrote, and which Willie Nelson made famous. Many of the other tunes Stapleton co-wrote with some of the first people he met when he went to Nashville.
His first musical offering of 2017 comes exactly two years to the day since Stapleton released his wildly successful debut album, Traveller. You know, the one that still appears on the list of most albums sold on a weekly basis.
Along with announcing new music, Stapleton announced seven more shows to his current tour, "Chris Stapleton's All-American Road Show." New stops include St. Paul, Minn., San Antonio and Austin. Tickets for the new shows go on sale Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m.
