Ricochet is a country music band from Oklahoma that rose to fame in the early '90s. The group, which formed in 1993, was comprised of brothers Jeff and Junior Bryant, along with Heath Wright, Greg Cook, Teddy Carr, and Eddie Kilgallon. After touring around throughout the south they were signed to Columbia Records in 1995 and released their debut album.
"Daddy's Money" was the second single from the album, written by Bob DiPiero, Mark Sanders, and Steve Seskin. Debuting at 63 on the charts it rapidly reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart in 1996. Along with their tribute to a "good bass fisher and dynamite kisser" who was "country as a turnip green" the band scored a top 5 hit with their debut single "What Do I Know," written by Stephony Smith, Sunny Russ, and Cathy Majeski.
In 1997, the band released their sophomore album Blink of an Eye, which produced the charting single "Ease My Troubled Mind," the Top 10 hit "Love is Stronger Than Pride" and the Top 20 hit "He Left A Lot to Be Desired."
The original members of the band are no longer together -- only Heath Wright remained involved. Eddie Kilgallion would go on to tour with Montgomery Gentry. Other members took various jobs in the music industry or retired from touring to spend time with family.
No new music has been released since 2012's Ricochet 15 Years and Counting. So for now, we can just remember the '90s country gems Ricochet gave us and how they entered the world of country music with a bang with the classic "Daddy's Money."
Below, watch the band perform "Daddy's Money" and "What Do I Know."
"Daddy's Money" Lyrics
My attention span done turned off
I'm honed in on that angel singing
Up there in the choir loft
Her mama's good looks
More laughs than a stack of comic books
A wild imagination
Add it all up it's a deadly combination
She's a good bass fisher
Country as a turnip green
She's got her daddy's money
Her mama's good looks
And look who's lookin' at me
I used to cut her grandma's grass
Back then she was nothin' but knees and elbows
Golly did she grow up fast
Her mama's good looks
More laughs than a stack of comic books
A wild imagination
Add it all up it's a deadly combination
She's a good bass fisher
A dynamite kisser
She's got her daddy's money
Her mama's good looks
And look who's lookin' at me
Maybe you could grant me one
Just let me walk down the aisle
And say I do
To that angel with a choir robe on
Her mama's good looks
More laughs than a stack of comic books
A wild imagination
Add it all up it's a deadly combination
She's a good bass fisher
A dynamite kisser
She's got her daddy's money
Her mama's good looks
And look who's lookin' at me
Her mama's good looks
And she's lookin' at me
