Hear Dolly Parton's String-Laden New Version of 'Jolene'

Dolly Parton never stops surprising us. Recently, the country legend released a brand new version of her iconic song "Jolene." The new recording swaps Parton's instantly recognizable guitar lick for a swelling orchestra of strings. The result is downright gorgeous and chilling.

"Jolene's been on the prowl a long time," Parton wrote on Twitter. "But she just got a makeover and I couldn't be more excited to share the new string version with y'all!"

The new rendition of the song is part of the forthcoming soundtrack to Dumplin'a Netflix film that heavily features Parton's music. The country star co-wrote six original songs on the album with producer and artist Linda Perry. The soundtrack also features reimagined Parton songs and collaborations between Parton and Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Elle King, Sia, Mavis Staples, Rhonda Vincent and more.

Parton recently released "Girl in the Movies," a ballad that encourages listeners to follow their dreams.

Dumplin', based on the 2015 young adult novel of the same name, centers on Willowdean Dixon (Danielle Macdonald), a plus-size teenager who enters her small Texas town's beauty pageant. Her mother, a former beauty queen, is played by Jennifer Aniston.

The Dumplin'  soundtrack will be released on Nov. 30. The film will be available on Netflix on Dec. 7.
