Duff Goldman Wins the Award for Most Romantic Impromptu Proposal

Hopeless romantics, get ready to sigh wistfully. You can chalk one up for spontaneous marriage proposals with this lovely tale of how cake master Duff Goldman proposed to his girlfriend Johnna Colbry.

Goldman, Charm City Cakes founder and headliner for the show Ace of Cakes, noted that he was just going about his day when it occurred to him that he wanted to marry Colbry. He didn't hesitate, proposing to her on the spot.

I woke up yesterday and it felt like any other day. Sun was shining, birds was chirping. I made some coffee, ate a little breakfast, and got in the shower. I was shaving my head when like a mule kick to the heart I realized that I am absolutely in love with Johnna ( @letushear ) and I can't imagine living another day without her in my life. She is kind, funny, smart, beautiful, cool, wise, and sexy. She's a tempest of feeling. I didn't plan this out, it just happened and it was so glaringly obvious that I couldn't have stopped it if I wanted to. I asked her to marry me. She said yes. I cannot imagine a state of happiness that is more intense than whatever I'm feeling right now. My heart just might burst. I love you muffin. I love every scar. I love the way you smell. I'm sorry I didn't have a real ring. I hope you don't mind butcher's twine, I am a chef, after all.

"I didn't plan this out, it just happened and it was so glaringly obvious that I couldn't have stopped it if I wanted to," he wrote in a caption to a cute photo of their hands joined that each of the couple posted on Instagram.

Colbry said yes, adding to her posted caption: "I'm so crazy about you @duffgoldman and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life going on adventures with you!"

Goldman proposed with a ring made out of butcher's twine, tied in a perfect knot, which he apologized for noting, "I hope you don't mind butcher's twine, I am a chef, after all."

The romantic proposal is even more appropriate since Goldman launched his line of DIY wedding cake kits last year; now he gets to be on other side of the wedding cake fun.
