LeAnn Rimes + Eddie Cibrian: Inside Their Happily Ever After Love Story

All odds were against LeAnn Rimes and her husband Eddie Cibrian when they first started their affair, both married at the time. But despite the bad press in Hollywood and a rocky start, the couple has proved that it's possible to come out the other side and have now been happily married for nearly a decade.

Rimes was married the first time to Dean Sheremet who had been hired to be one of her backup dancers at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards. She apparently knew she wanted to marry him after their first date and the couple tied the knot the following year in 2002. Rimes was only 19 at the time so it was considered very controversial. But it seemed that the teen sensation and Sheremet had actually found something special...until Rimes booked a Lifetime movie in 2008 and met co-star Eddie Cibrian.

Cibrian had been married to former model Brandi Glanville since 2001 and they shared two sons together, Mason and Jake. It seemed everything was going fine until Cibrian met Rimes on the set of their TV film Northern Lights. Rumors immediately started after filming wrapped up in Canada and Rimes and Cibrian returned to California. Initially, they both denied allegations to the press, but ultimately Glanville filed for divorce as a result of the infidelity. She can't be too bitter because she's now a huge reality star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Glanville admitted that she'll never be "best friends" with her ex, but they all do their best to co-parent together.

When Us Weekly broke the news of the affair, Rimes admitted that initially, she went into hiding.

"I think I became numb. Then I told everyone I should have told and then I curled up in a ball on the couch and then I didn't move. And I didn't move for a while. It's that feeling of your heart falling to the ground," she explained. "Eddie reacted the way that I reacted too, but he reacted in his own way and I allowed him to do that. Because he had so much more to deal with than I did — I had a marriage, he had a marriage and children. I can't even fathom that."

Rimes even opened up about her affair to People but says she doesn't regret it because it brought her and Eddie together. But she does wish that no one had gotten hurt, her ex-husband included.

"I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else. I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt," says Rimes. "But I don't regret the outcome."

LeAnn & Eddie tied the knot in 2011 in front of 40 close friends and his two children in Los Angeles, California. According to E!, they kept the details so vague that many guests believed they were attending an engagement party. The couple hasn't had any children of their own yet, but Rimes tells ET every now and then she gets the desire for more.

"Actually, I get it every once in a while!" said Rimes. "I'm trying to figure out what it is that stirs it. I haven't figured that out yet, because every once in a while I'll be like, 'What is making me want a baby, like, right now?' I haven't figured that out yet, but it hasn't stuck."

"Maybe one day," she added. "I mean, I love my stepkids and I get plenty on my plate with them. So, I'm cool at the moment."

The little family regularly shares adorable pics together on Instagram and has officially put all of the negativity that surrounded them at the beginning in the dust. Cibrian, known for his role on the '90s soap opera Sunset Beach as well as The Cave, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, But I'm a Cheerleader and Saved by the Bell: The College Years is still regularly acting. He has appeared on CSI: Miami, The Playboy Club, Rizzoli & Isles, Rosewood, Take Two, Ugly Betty, Criminal Minds, and Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club.

Rimes admitted to ET that the couple discovered that they had actually met years before and have no memory of it. So maybe they were always destined to reconnect.

"Well we don't remember meeting each other," Rimes explained. "No, but there is a photo of it, clearly, and it is odd. We both were like, 'Wait, what?' I think he was 23, I was 14 at the time, and he was doing The Young and the Restless. He found that right after we had worked together. He was just digging through some photos in his garage and found it."

If you aren't following LeAnn on social media you need to just to see the family's cute seasonal posts on Easter, Halloween, Christmas and more. These two celebs seem genuinely happy together and we can't wait to follow along to see what's in store for the little family.
