Held at the Peacock Theater at LA Live in Los Angeles, the Emmys aren't just any awards show. This year, they're marking a major milestone - their 75th anniversary. It's a celebration of not just the past year's achievements in television but also a nod to 75 years of Emmy history.

But with all the buzz and such an important event to celebrate, that begs the question: who will be hosting the 2024 Emmy Awards ceremony, anyway?

This year, comedian and actor Anthony Anderson will be taking on the role. Known for his role in "Black-ish," Anderson is getting a chance to show off his hosting chops in the spotlight as the host of television's most illustrious evening.

"I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can't wait to be part of the biggest night in television," Anderson joked about the occasion.

The decision to have Anderson host was met with enthusiasm from industry insiders.

"After Anthony hosted our upcoming show, 'We Are Family,' we knew he'd be a natural fit for the Emmys," said Allison Wallach, President of Unscripted Programming at Fox Entertainment.

We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year's outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence!" added Frank Scherma, Chair of the Television Academy.

The anticipation for this year's Emmys is especially high, given the recent industry challenges. The event, now scheduled for January 15, follows the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that had previously put Hollywood on pause. These strikes, which marked the first joint action by writers and actors in over six decades, led to a temporary shutdown of productions.

Despite these hurdles, the industry bounced back, as evidenced by the impressive slate of shows nominated for this year's awards. Highlights include "Succession," "Abbott Elementary," and "Ted Lasso," which have all garnered significant attention. It's going to be an interesting night, and with Anderson now at the helm, it looks like it's going to be a funny one, too.
