According to new statistics released by the U.S. Census Bureau, four Texas cities ranked in the top five of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. The data shows that between 2015 and 2016, the Houston suburb of Conroe grew by 7.8%. The Associated Press reports that percentage is 11 times higher than the national average.

The Dallas suburbs of Frisco (6.2%) and McKinney (5.9%) came in the second and third spots. Austin suburb Georgetown came in fifth place with a 5.5% population increase.

So why are these Texas cities growing so rapidly? It seems most of the population spikes are attributed to the state's ever-growing job market. Many large manufacturing and technology companies are flocking to Texas for the low housing and developmental costs. But in general, the data shows that the South is growing more rapidly than any other region in the United States.

Since 2010, the largest cities in the southern states grew by an average of 9.4 percent. That's more that two percent higher than anywhere else in the country. But can you blame folks for traveling south? With plenty of attractions, low living costs and room to grow, Southerners already know it's a great place to work and live.
