Ford has issued a recall of 1.3 million 2015-2017 F-150 and 2017 Super Duty trucks due to a door latch issue.

In a statement on their website, the company explained that the affected trucks have frozen door latches or a bent or kinked actuation cable. These issues can prevent the door from opening and closing properly.
Even when the doors appear closed, there is a chance they may not have latched. This increases the risk that the door could come open while driving, which presents a safety issue.
Ford will repair the affected trucks for free, at an estimated cost of $267 million to the company.
Your truck is subject to the recall if it is:
- A 2015-2017 F-150 built in the Kansas City Assembly Plant OR the Dearborn Assembly Plant from March 12, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2016.
- A 2017 Super Duty built in the Kentucky Assembly Plant from Oct. 8, 2015 to Sept. 1, 2016.
The reference number for the recall is 17S33. For more information, visit the Ford website.
The F-series trucks have been a best-seller for the historic automobile maker. The Michigan auto giant recently released their most expensive truck yet, a 2018 F-series Super Duty that costs nearly $100,000 when fully loaded.
