Emmy award-winning actor Powers Boothe has passed away. He was 68 years old.

Boothe played the character Lamar Wyatt on the dramatic television series Nashville. Wyatt was the father of lead character Rayna Jaymes and former mayor of Nashville. Boothe left the series in 2014.
Over the years, he played dozens of characters on popular television shows. Some of his most memorable roles include his stint as saloon owner Cy Tolliver on Deadwood, and Gideon Malick on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He also played many film roles, including Senator Roark in Sin City and its sequels.

In 2009, Boothe was inducted in the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Many of his Nashville co-stars shared their sadness over Boothe's passing.
"Truly shocked by the news that Powers Boothe has passed away," actor Sam Palladio shared. "Such a talented, kind and inspiring man. A true gentleman and a friend."
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Powers Boothe's name to the Gary Sinise Foundation. The organization honors the nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.
