Last August the world famous barbecue joint in Austin, Texas was destroyed by a fire that started in the pit room due to high winds from Hurricane Harvey. After surveying the damage, Owners Aaron and Stacey Franklin closed down the restaurant to rebuild the pit room. On November 21, the Franklins are opening up their doors for the first time since the restaurant suffered smoke damage and are ready to start serving the Lone Star State again.
While the pit room is still not open and Franklin Barbecue will be using outdoor smokers, pitmaster Aaron Franklin assured customers that they are going to be pushing out as much food as what you would expect in the restaurant. Thanks to the swift response of the Austin Fire Department, first responders were able to save as much of the original structure as possible.
You can expect to find the regular menu available on a first-come, first-serve basis. That includes their moist brisket, pork ribs, the best beef ribs in town, and that Lemon Chess pie.
The barbecue joint is open on Tuesday, but closed for Thanksgiving on November 23 and November 24. The restaurant will open up back on November 25th. Franklin Barbecue is open at 11:00 a.m. until the product is sold out, which is usually around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.
