How to Make Big-Batch Perfect Eggs in the Oven

There's nothing that says breakfast or brunch more than perfect fried eggs. Served with a runny yolk, this egg preparation is the perfect accompaniment to a hearty slice of ham, an english muffin and a sauce made with fresh herbs.

While there are multiple ways to cook an egg (there's said to be over 100 ways), breakfast favorites always include some sort of egg recipe ranging from oven baked eggs, scrambled eggs, egg white omelets, egg sandwiches, poached eggs to even the occasional frittata.

Egg dishes abound, it's always a hard decision to figure out what to make for a crowd. Serving a bowl of scrambled eggs seems like the easy choice but I always like to change things up a bit and serve different egg recipes for my family and friends.

As much as I love making fried eggs, I've always strayed away from the idea. Making an egg or two for a quick breakfast is fine by me, but standing in front of the stove for a good twenty minutes flipping eggs while the other food gets cold isn't my idea of a perfect brunch.

How to Make Fried Eggs in the Oven

There is now a solution for all breakfast hosts. Food Network came up with a simple hack to making perfect eggs every time -and it only involves your oven and a sheet pan.

Before your guests arrive preheat your oven to 425ºF and coat a baking sheet with olive oil. Once the guests have arrived break about a dozen eggs into a bowl, making sure not to stir.

Pour the eggs onto the full size sheet pan (use two if they are half-size) and season with salt and pepper before placing in the oven for about five minutes. The cook time depends on how runny you want the egg yolks. Cut around the egg whites (it'll be a big mass of eggs) and serve with a spatula.

While technically these are considered sunny side up eggs (because only the bottom is cooked) you could always flip the eggs and cook for one minute more for perfect fried eggs.

If you are looking to make a breakfast sandwich you can use this method, however we recommend using a muffin tin for cooking eggs that are going to be used for sandwiches. Just grease the muffin pan and add a large egg into each. Bake until the egg whites are set then serve with shredded cheese on a biscuit or english muffin.
