Trisha's Cooking Adventures
Garth Brooks has said that he loved being quarantined with his "best friend," and Yearwood expressed similar feelings in an episode of PEOPLE Every Day. As she used her time stuck inside to work on her new cookbook, Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family, she found that her husband Garth Brooks was the perfect food critic.
She explained that it was "pretty weird" to be stuck at home so much, but she used cooking as a therapeutic and creative outlook. Trisha has a cooking show on the Food Network, Trisha's Southern Kitchen, along with a number of beloved cookbooks, so fans are already familiar with her delicious Southern recipes.
As the singer told host Janine Rubenstein. "I really do enjoy the kitchen, it's just relaxing for me. I think it's because my parents were both good cooks and they raised me to be like, 'If everything is terrible, you order pizza and it's fine. Don't stress over it.'"
Trisha Yearwood put a lot of time into perfecting her recipes, and Brooks gave her the honest feedback that every home cook needs. "It was really good because working on the cookbook, I could work on a recipe and Garth is wonderful because he's a real honest critic," Trisha said. "He's not going to just say, 'Everything's great.' If he tells me something needs something and needs more this or that, I'm going to get mad first but he's also usually right."
Garth Brooks also helps out in the kitchen from time to time, like in this hilarious and adorable episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show.
Garth's Favorite Recipes
Garth Brooks is happy to critique Trisha's cooking, but he's also open about when he loves one of her culinary creations. Yearwood revealed in an interview with People that a few of the recipes in her upcoming cookbook are her husband's favorites.
One is the teriyaki bowl, which is based on the teriyaki bowl served at a restaurant that the couple used to visit in Tulsa, In the Raw. Another is the sweet, indulgent breakfast burger with maple hot butter.
"[He] particularly loves this breakfast burger with maple hot butter that I came up with," Yearwood said. "I usually serve it alongside some homemade hash browns, and the bun gets a french toast treatment, so there's lots of salt with the sweet. It's really good."
Another favorite that Garth gets to enjoy every Thanksgiving is Trisha's delicious mashed potatoes and gravy. As Yearwood explains, Garth loves gravy. So he looks forward to Thanksgiving for the homemade gravy with the turkey."
