On Wednesday morning (1/18), Mrs. Bush was admitted as a precaution after experiencing fatigue and coughing.

Over the weekend, Mr. Bush was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital after experiencing shortness of breath. He underwent surgery for a "respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia." He is currently resting in the ICU.

Mrs. Bush is 91, and President Bush is 92. He is currently the oldest living U.S. President.

The Bushes were planning to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Friday, but canceled because of health concerns.

"My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under. Same for Barbara," Bush wrote in a letter to Trump. "So I guess we're stuck in Texas."

Mr. Bush suffers from Parkinson's Disease and uses a wheelchair and scooter to move. In July of 2015, he fell while at his home in Maine and broke bones around his neck.

We wish the Bushes a speedy recovery.
