Strait and Shelton helped make the announcement with a humorous video on Instagram, featuring Shelton poking a little fun at Strait's non-retirement retirement and Strait deadpanning that he doesn't watch Shelton's show The Voice but is a fan of the coach's frequent sparring partner, Adam Levine.

The announcement follows Strait's record-breaking performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Sunday night (3/17). Strait closed out the rodeo, performing for over 80,000 attendees. According to the Houston Chronicle, Strait set a new NRG Stadium attendance record with his performance.
Strait will release his new album Honky Tonk Time Machine on March 29. The album includes 12 new songs and one cover ("Old Violin," originally written and recorded by Johnny Paycheck). Strait previously released "God and Country Music," "Código," "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar," "The Weight of the Badge," and the title track. The album also includes "Sing One With Willie," which George Strait and Willie Nelson debuted at the Willie Nelson tribute concert earlier this year.
Strait will headline the Buckeye Country Superfest in Columbus, Ohio on June 8, 2019. In November, the country legend will play his home state at the new Dickie's arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
